These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Canyon Runner Hotshot website (bchotshot.ca) and any freight transportation services (“Services”) booked through it. By booking a shipment or otherwise using this site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or book Services.
1. Who We Are
Canyon Runner Hotshot is a hotshot freight trucking service based in British Columbia, Canada, providing point-to-point freight delivery from the Vancouver / Lower Mainland area to destinations across British Columbia and Alberta. You can reach us at hello@bchotshot.ca or 778-302-1632.
2. Booking and Deposits
Bookings are made by selecting a destination hub on our website, completing the load details form, and paying a deposit at checkout. The deposit secures your pickup slot and is applied toward the total price of your shipment. The balance is due on delivery unless other payment terms have been agreed in writing (for example, Net 15/30/60 terms for approved business accounts).
All prices shown exclude GST unless stated otherwise; GST is added at checkout or on your invoice as required by law.
3. Accuracy of Booking Information
You are responsible for providing accurate pickup and delivery addresses, contact information, delivery date/time window, and cargo details (weight, dimensions, and pallet count) at the time of booking. Cargo that exceeds the stated weight or dimension limits for the selected truck, or that was not disclosed accurately at booking, may require a larger vehicle (trailer) at an additional cost, may be delayed, or may be refused at pickup.
4. Cancellations and Changes
If you need to cancel or reschedule a booking, contact us as soon as possible at dispatch@bchotshot.ca or 778-302-1632. Deposits are refundable if you cancel, less any non-refundable card processing fees charged to us by our payment processor. Cancellations made with little or no notice before the scheduled pickup may affect our ability to offer a full refund, at our discretion, given the cost of holding a truck and slot for your shipment.
5. Delays, Layover, and Detention
We make every reasonable effort to meet the agreed pickup and delivery window. Delays caused by weather, road conditions, mechanical issues, or circumstances outside our control may occur; we will notify you as soon as we’re aware of a significant delay.
If a shipment requires the driver to wait beyond a reasonable loading/unloading window through no fault of ours (layover or detention), additional charges apply and will be added to your invoice. Current layover and detention rates are available on request and are disclosed prior to charging where practical.
6. Cargo Restrictions
Certain items cannot be transported, including but not limited to hazardous materials, illegal goods, and items that exceed our trucks’ safe weight or dimension limits. If you’re unsure whether your cargo qualifies, contact us before booking.
7. Liability for Cargo
We take reasonable care in the handling and transport of your cargo. Unless a higher value has been declared and agreed to in writing in advance, our liability for loss or damage to cargo while in our care is limited to $2.00 CAD per pound of the affected cargo. We recommend that shippers of high-value freight arrange their own cargo insurance for the full replacement value of their goods.
We are not liable for delays, loss, or damage caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, road closures, acts of government, or accidents caused by third parties.
8. Payment
Payment is processed through our third-party payment processor (Stripe). By providing payment information, you authorize us to charge the applicable deposit and/or balance to the payment method provided. Invoices are issued through our accounting platform (Zoho Invoice) and are payable according to the terms stated on the invoice.
9. Live Location Sharing
For active shipments, we may share a live location link (via a third-party location-sharing service) with you so you can track your delivery in progress. This link is provided for your convenience and is not a guarantee of real-time accuracy.
10. Website Use
You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes and not to interfere with its operation, attempt to access it using automated means without our permission, or submit false or misleading booking information.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when the Terms were last revised. Continued use of the site or our Services after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
